The Unbelievable Story of Modric

Luka Modric is Real Madrid and Croatia’s playmaker and the best box-to-box midfielder in the world. But his career is a miracle. They say the best stories are about overcoming obstacles. Modric’s story is a perfect example.

He was born in the middle of the Croatian War of Independence. Multiple crimes were committed during this dark period. Unfortunately, the Modrics couldn’t escape from this horrible reality. Luka was only 6 years old when Serbian rebels invaded his village. They captured his grandfather and killed him in cold blood. Life was unbearable. The Modric family received death threats. Luka lived in fear and had to be ready to hide at any moment. Because of the grenades, the Modrics were forced to flee their village and region. They became refugees and hid in a hotel.

Despite this horrible situation, Luka Modric’s gift for football became more and more evident. He played to forget his problems, but also showed a lot of potential. The family decided to sacrifice everything for Modric to become a great player. The Modrics went from hotel to hotel and lived in tiny apartments so that Luka could continue training and have a chance to become a professional player. Unfortunately, Luka’s career didn’t take off.
